Summer 2026 Mixer

When: Friday, August 14, 4:00–10:00 PM (Come when you want. Stay as long as you'd like.)

Where: 320 S Wyman St, Rockford, IL (Behind Embassy Suites)

What: Complimentary food and drink tickets and a dedicated gathering space inside RockYard Music Fest. Use it as your home base to meet other newcomers and enjoy the festival.

Who: Anyone who has moved to the Rockford area within the last three years (or who still feels new!)

Admission: FREE, but registration is required for food and drink tickets

  • What's the difference between living in the city versus the Rockford suburbs?

    The Rockford suburbs offer a quieter vibe but are still easy commuting distance from downtown Rockford. Some, like Roscoe and Rockton, are known for their small-town charm, while others, like Pecatonica and Poplar Grove, are more rural. While your drive will be closer to 25 minutes than 15, you'll still be close enough to easily enjoy a night out in downtown Rockford, a concert at the Coronado, or a museum day on a weekend.

  • What's the deal with the River District — who lives there?

    The River District is ideal for those who enjoy the downtown, big-city vibe. With apartment buildings, lofts, and plenty to do (and eat!), this area is perfect if you’re looking for a pedestrian-friendly neighborhood where you can walk or bike to and from dinner in the warmer months.

  • Do I need a car, or is Rockford walkable?

    Yes, you will most likely need a car in Rockford. Rockford is big, and the winters are cold! The RMTD bus system is great for getting around a local neighborhood but can be a slow way to traverse the whole city. Some intrepid Rockfordians do commute by bike year-round, but most drive.
